They're Not After Your Guns...Really....

Except, you know, when they are....
Under the ordinance, approved by a 5-0 vote, anyone in the village with an assault rifle has 90 days to either remove it from the village limits, alter the weapon to make it permanently inoperable or turn it over to police for disposal. Anyone who violates the ordinance faces a fine of from $100 to $750.
Here's the ordinance. I don't know who put this up but it's already in violation of state law by including handgun bans in it (and it bans practically all semi-auto handguns) and the majority of semi-auto firearms.

So w/i 90 days, you need to get rid of your personal property based off of the fears of some local committee hacks that decided to hold a townhall at the last minute (to limit public input) w/ a pre-determined agenda.

Update:  They forgot a decimal unless they think that "22 caliber" firearms are fine.  They can pry my battleship guns from my cold dead hands.

Tears From Some Clowns

While I continue sipping my tea sweetened from the Joyce Foundation puppet ICHV, I add a little bit more sugar to it from IL Gov. Quinn and Chicago Mayor Rhambo.

What's odd (not really) are the *crickets* from all the other places, even from 'Moms Demand Lovin'' who had representatives testify at the exec hearings.  You know, the ones who admitted they didn't even know who their legislators were 6 months ago , were receiving standing ovations at pet parades and count FB likes as 'members.  Also nothing yet from any of the other anti-rights groups. CSGV, Brady Campaign, MAIG, VPC, NGAC. Nothing.  Absolute silence.  I wonder why?

And Quinn upped the stakes by suspending lawmakers pay in retaliation for spending the whole day on CCW (just like was expected), overriding his veto, and ignoring pension (also just as expected).   Gotta love IL politics.

Tasteless AND Funny

You know a company that makes novelty bleeding zombie targets has 'hit its mark' when the object of said novelty throws a hissy fit.

Needless to say, it's the CSGV and their zombie like followers throwing said hissy fit. Lots of comments about it being 'sick', 'hate speech', 'insurrectionists', 'terrorists' etc abound. Words that apparently none of the posters understand.  This is the same group that said the Rand Paul campaign threatened Obama and REALLY needs to review news articles before posting about 'vaginas'.

These nitwits make it too easy.

ICHV Sweetens My Tea W/ Their Tears

The IL CCW bill leaves a lot to be desired but this makes it worthwhile:
Despite our best efforts, today the Illinois General Assembly sided with the gun lobby and voted to override Governor Quinn’s common sense amendatory veto of HB 183.
Governor Quinn heard our voices and stood up to the pro-gun extremists and issued an amendatory veto that would have prevented loaded guns in places that serve alcohol, allowed local communities to ban military assault weapons and require businesses to opt into allowing concealed carry as opposed to an opt out system among other common sense provisions.
Notwithstanding overwhelming support from Illinois residents, many state lawmakers sided with the gun lobby and against public safety.  It’s a disgrace that our elected officials did not heed the call for common sense solutions.  As constituents we must hold our legislators accountable for their vote on this measure and make sure your voice is heard.
To find how your Representative voted click here and to see how your Senator voted click here.
Please take a minute and let them know how you feel about their vote.  To find your state legislators click here
While today we suffered a setback our work is far from over and we remain more committed than ever to making sure that we fight for solutions that will save lives. In Illinois alone, we lose 1,000 lives a year to gun violence and that is 1,000 reasons we must continue our partnership for peace.
Thank you again for all your help and we look forward to continuing our work together to save lives and live in safer communities.
In Peace,

Colleen Daley
Executive Director
Sweet, so sweet.  I'm wondering where their claim of 'overwhelming support' comes from?  Rigged polls?  Their diseased minds?  Witness slips supporting the CCW bills were 50:1 to those opposed.  Pro-rights supporters universally outnumber anti-rights activists at rallies. Hell, my range gettogethers often outnumber their rallies.

So far *crickets* from the other groups. They're trying to distract their members w/ repeated posts supporting the dangerous use of firearms by Ms. magazine writer  Heidi Yewman.

So Much For The IL Budget; All CCW All The Time

So instead of trying to deal w/ the $100B Illinois Debt, the IL State Senate Democrats are instead going to screw around more w/ Concealed Carry at a piddling $40k/day.

W/ overwhelming support to override Quinn's Veto, instead they are going to 'caucus' and push the changes forward as separate bills to be voted on.If only they put this much time and effort into, you know, keeping the state from going bankrupt.

Is it any wonder that anyone w/ two or more firing synapses has no trust in the Gov't and considers most politicians to be blithering idiots? Unfortunately it's the ones w/ less than two that keep voting them in.

Updates as I get them.

UPDATE:  Overridden in in both House and Senate.  IL now has a CCW law.

House Veto Overrides Quinn 77-31
Senators who originally voted for 183 but then switched to NO on the override:

Acevedo
Berrios
Dunkin
Flowers
Ford
Thapedi
Yingling
Zalewski

Senate Exec Committee: After Sen. President Cullerton pushes for separate bills,Noone from the Governors' office bothered to show.
ISP Sgt. John Thompson claims that most police only carry 9 rnds (in clips) w/ them and that anything more is leading towards being like Tacklebarry from the Police Academy movies. He goes on about supporting the restaurant ban because guns and alcohol don't mix but then is forced to admit that the original bill already makes consumption while carrying illegal.States that carrying at 'private parties' should be prohibited. He also goes under the assumption that people are 'less than honest' w/ the police. Make it all double-illegaller."Carrying a loaded firearm is a danger to police and yourself". Yet he carries one. Bet he's carried into Applebee's before.

Mom's Demand Lovin' is up.  'Before Dec. 14th, I didn't know who my state legislatures were'.  That pretty much tells you the knowledge level of the rest of their spokesperson's talk. She also claims 'likes' on FB as 'members'. Standing ovations at 'pet parades'.  They're brushed off pretty quickly after their speech.

Sen Munoz (anti) rambles on about how even cops shouldn't carry more than one gun and that Chicago has more restaurants than anywhere else in the state so you shouldn't carry there.

Todd Vandermyde, NRA lobbyist is up.Slaps down the ISP for using states that criminalize printing as their examples. "It's absurd for the governor to walk around with a taxpayer funded detail with multiple guns but then try and limit us". 'Carrying while black" profiling is the reason for no 'duty to inform'.
Senator calls Vandermyde a liar because he stated he wasn't in the negotiations but that the negotiators talked to him. Trying to play 'gotcha; stupid crap.

Senate Floor.  Senate President Cullerton is trying to push though Quinn's changes as a 'Trailer Bill'. Kotowski, who had a meltdown after his mag ban bill died, goes on about CCW holders shooting up police and talks about Quinn's 'leadership'.

HB1453 makes some technical changes to the CCW law.  Passes 45-13. Still has to go through the house.
"Someone could walk into a school tomorrow, 3x above the legal limit we allow people to drive at ... with a loaded handgun ..."- State Sen. Kwame Raoul. "Wild Wild West" repeated over and over.  Idiots.
Senator Jacobs suggests to the Governor that he might want to work with the legislature while they're actually in session.

41 yeas. 17 nays   183 Veto Overridden.

Even the Illinois State Police Expect an Override of Quinn's CCW Veto

They already have a FAQ page up. Nothing in it relates to Quinn's changes.

Nothing is 100% in stone but I wonder how Quinn feels knowing he's completely ineffectual and derided by all sides of the political spectrum.

Owning the Message: North Carolina Style

Sean Sorrentino faces off w/ the Giffords' Gun Ban Tour and gets the media to call it out as nothing but a staged dog and pony show

That is the way to do it.This is the second anti-gun tour that's had to hide its itinerary because of the fact they are outnumbered and are taken off message when they go public.

Too Little Too Late For Jim Carrey

Realizing that it's not 20 yrs ago when he was really popular, Jim Carrey 'apologized' (sort of) for insulting hundreds of thousands of people who might have gone to see his latest disasters.
Asslt rifle fans,I do not agree wth u,nor do I fear u but I do love u and I'm sorry tht in my outrage I called you names.That was wrong. 3^{
Btw I don't need a crisis mgr, just a conscience. Calling ppl names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn't changed. ;^}
Sorry Jimmy, you're still not funny. Maybe you should be apologizing for the majority of your film career.

Agent-Provocateur Or Just An Idiot?

Sometimes you read comments by someone that are just so off the wall, you hope they're someone from the other side trying to cause problems.  The only other option, they're serious, is just to depressing to think about. Take a look at this selection:
the antigun communists love to say this: "The people that own the Tribune FB page and the website/forum have every right to decide only antigun communists can post there and what they can say. If you want to post gun stuff that promotes public gun possession (stuff they don't approve of) then you will have to do it elsewhere. Can I come and write "Support The 2nd Amendment" on the side of your house ? Guess what Bob, I never read news articles or published material unless I'm allowed to comment on it. I don't give anyone a monopoly on free speech (or telling lies). Only communists will say the communists have the right to disarm us on their property.

The antigun communist loves to say "I have every right to prohibit gun possession on my property."

I get booted off of forums that pretend to defend gun rights for the benefit of defending antigun communists who secretly advocate antigun laws. Which antigun laws do you support ? The people who complain about me do so because they want me banned because they're antigun. Usually it is cops who don't want me exposing them (especially when I tell people cops are deliberately inciting gun violence against children to help justify strict gun control laws).
We have antigun laws because IllinoisCarry supports gun laws. We have deleted speech because IllinoisCarry supports censorship and restricted speech. The most vile and hateful speech should be protected because only when that speech is protected do we have FREE SPEECH.
Needless to say, this individual's pretty much a 'ban on sight' persona-non-Grata.
I've been banned from IllinoisCarry for years now because it's patrolled by antigun police.

I'm also banned from ISRA's Facebook. To me it's one more badge of liberty I carry.
Yep. Two of the major gun rights groups in Illinois are actually working in secret to pass anti-gun laws and foment a Red Revolution. Only he (and a select few other regularly banned individuals) know the truth and can save us all.

*sigh*

THIS Explains a Lot

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.
If you're going to intentionally pick the 'average' to low average individuals for a profession allegedly responsible for the protection of society, it's not wonder we're seeing the increased issues and abuses.

Not only that but it further encourages ignorance and a lack of education.  "Don't study too hard Johnny, you might not get the job you want if you do to well."

ARPA(NET) Reasoned Discourse-ing Already

The new 'American Rifle & Pistol Assoc. is going to be busy beavers if they delete all the opposition they're receiving.  I put up one post on FB w/ a link to TBFKASIH and it got deleted and I'm blocked, along w/ most of the early comments and links to other sites that have shown the facts about this group.

Astroturf is hard.

Out of all their 'likes', they have a whopping one person posting in defense of them. Not w/ anything resembling 'conversation' of course, but instead insults and distractions. Real similar IMO, in tone and style to the writing of the 'interview' and just 'happens' to be a web/app designer.

Hmmmm.

Update:  Full out 'Reasoned Discourse' is in effect.  In a wordy, buzzphrase ridden post,(seriously? deliberative dialogue? Authentic deliberation? wtf is that?)  they basically say that their 'membership focused' group will delete any comments critical of their agenda. Whatever that agenda happens to be.  They've already deleted a bunch of comments on that post alone:

If you click on it, the only comment left at the time was that one. All the others were gone.
