I was going to do a post on how Colleen Daley of the ICHV blatantly lies but then I read that Jerry Doyle of Babylon 5/Garibaldi fame, passed away.

The corporate gun lobby literally capitalizes on fear after every mass shooting, to spread irrational mistrust of people of color, stoke fears of terrorism, and raise the specter of jack booted thugs coming “to take their guns.” In fact, stock prices for the two largest gunmakers in the country soared the day after June’s tragic Orlando shooting, which killed 49 people. And at the RNC last night, the NRA once again tried to scare the hell out of Americans just to sell more guns.

Yep, those racist, greedy, capitalist gun companies and their NRA cronies.

In an op-ed from the AG of Mass. :

The directive specifically outlines two tests to determine what constitutes a “copy” or “duplicate” of a prohibited weapon. If a gun’s operating system is essentially the same as that of a banned weapon, or if the gun has components that are interchangeable with those of a banned weapon, it’s a “copy” or “duplicate,” and it is illegal. Assault weapons prohibited under our laws cannot be altered in any way to make their sale or possession legal in Massachusetts.

So they know an 'assault weapon' when they see one by any definition they make up at the time. Effectively banning a huge percentage of firearms by even the most conservative definitions of the above.

All the while these same politicians are protected by the weapons they want banned from civilians.

Why are Anti-Violence Activists So Violent?

Completely missing the point here:

Shooting at 'Stop the Violence Beach Party' kills 19-year-old

Ohio police on Tuesday were investigating a shooting at an impromptu anti-violence rally that killed a 19-year-old man and wounded a 12-year-old boy.
As many as 300 people filled a lakeside park Sunday night in Euclid, outside Cleveland, for the "Stop the Violence Beach Party" when the shots rang out.

I'm quite sure the 'beach party' was focused on stopping violence.  Probably more along the lines of 'stopping sobriety'

Pokemon Go: My Ramblings

There's a new fad in town, one that Timothy Leary would appreciate, as people go around seeing imaginary creatures and trying to capture them. 

At it's core, it's fun, it's harmless, and it gets people some exercise though, like card-flopping, it's not my thing. But whatever... go out and enjoy.  Some places are even using it to advertise to get people to go to museums, stores, what have you. 

Here's what's going to happen though.  People are going to get stupid.  Not all of them... Not even a majority... but enough. We've seen it already.  Falling off cliffs, trespassing on private property, wandering into traffic, disrespecting cemeteries. I've heard rumors of 'fake' apps that are malware. 

There's going to be just enough stupidity by the rude and ignorant that there will be calls for 'something to be done'.  Then there are going to be restrictions placed, more and more places banned, and people getting into trouble.

And the fun will go away.

So several new books for the natal anniversary.  Which do I read first? 

"Pwned" by Matt Vancil, a 'Gamers' universe novel or "The East German Army" by Thomas Forster, THE book on the NVA during the Cold War. 

Look Who Else Was At The Catered 'Sit-In'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –  U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown of Florida and her chief of staff have been charged with multiple fraud and other federal offenses in a grand jury indictment unsealed Friday after a federal investigation into a fraudulent charity with ties to the congresswoman.

She should go through the same due process as in the bill she thinks firearm owners should have.

Laws are for little people.
