CeaseFire Illinois Goes Anti-Gun

CF Illinois was actually a pretty good group unlike the other Ceasefire's across the nation. They actively worked to reduce violence in crime ridden neighborhoods w/ methods like negotiation, youth involvement and community activism.

Unfortunately they don't know crap about legal firearm ownership or CCW.
“Concealed carry — what that does is reinforce the idea that violence is OK,” Hardiman says. “What we are doing is trying to talk these guys down, but this encourages that cowboy mentality.”
They mostly deal w/ violent criminals and gang members. How many of those types are going to bother getting a license to carry a firearm? How many of them even bother w/ the license to own one?

Oh right.

No. Victims disarmed by law - that's what sends the message that violence is okay because criminals who disregard the gun laws are empowered against their law-abiding victims who respect the laws.
CCW sends the strong message that it's a bad idea to commit violence against people because it might be fatal to do so.

This is one of my favorite all time quotes. I've been following guns in the news full time since the Arizona shooting (I'm gainfully unemployed, so this is my way of wasting my downtime), and I've seen many great quotes I wish I had saved, but that is in the top five.

"We are trying to talk these guys down". You are trying to talk down the criminals and their intended victims? Uh huh. And of course there is the standard "cowboy" meme...but I really like the "trying to talk these guys down" quote.
