73% Of Statistics Are Made Up On The Spot

From John Rosenthal, founder of Stop Handgun Ownership Violence and 'I'm a gun owner but..."
the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reports that 90% of guns used by Mexican drug cartels are purchased from federally licensed gun dealers in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California
Ummm, no John. Either you're stupid or lying (or both). The BATFE says no such thing and you know it.

He also says:
"just 1% of licensed gun dealers are responsible for selling 57% of gun traced to crime in the US"
Again an outright lie or stupidity showing he either knows nothing about firearm laws or he's blatantly trying to confuse the few people that listen to him. Here's the CRS report on just how Rosenthal's misusing information:
ATF has consistently stated that trace frequency,
in and of itself, is not indicative of criminal activity by an FFL.

Honestly, I don't think the 'tipping point' for him has anything to do w/ guns. Sounds more like he's been tipping bottles.

His (BS) statistics are actually damaging to gun-grabbers arguments. After all, if investigating and closing down just 1% of firearms dealers would reduce gun crimes by 57%, then we don't need new laws and restrictions.

Sometimes it is 73%, but I've found that 17% of the time it isn't more than 31% accurate. Usually.
