VPC Misquotes... Shock

W/ the recent indictment of a group that was allegedly planning on attacking police*, the VPC has jumped at the chance to try and ban guns. Problem is they continue to lie to try and do it. The VPC quotes (via twitter) the ex-wife of the group leader as saying:
"when he went from handguns to big guns, she said “I’m done.”
Implying that anyone who buys a long-gun is intent on overthrowing the gov't.

What she really said:
"When he got carried away from handguns to big guns, I said, 'I'm done.'"
Well that certainly changes the meaning of the sentence, doesn't it?

Not that we really expect anything in the way of honesty from them.

Update: Retaining their issues w/ the truth, the VPC is accusing me of 'misquoting' them.

So what exactly did I 'misquote'?

Poor Joshie. I guess this is why you folks had your budget cut.

  1. An Associated Press reporter on NPR called the AR-15 rifle "heavy artillery" when discussing this story.

He paraphrased the wife as saying...

"When he started buying heavy artillery like the AR-15, I was done."

We still gots work to do.

  3. Follow up.

I wrote NPR and asked why the host didn't challenge the AP reporters' statement about AR-15's being "heavy artillery.

I just got an email from NPR that they announced a correction yesterday to listeners that AR-15's are not heavy artillery.

    Baby steps.
